Welcome & General Information about the U10s
The Under 10s squad is for players who, from 1st September, will be in Year 5 at school. The players are coached and managed by Fabrice Meziani, assisted by Geoff Pickett, Tony Lewis, Matt Bradley, Paul Butler, Alan Noble and Tony Gay.
Coaching sessions are every Saturday during term time from 09:15 – 11:00 on the Recreation Ground behind Mill End Combined School. Please be sure to arrive in plenty of time for the warm up session at the beginning of each training day and ensure your child has had plenty of sleep and a healthy breakfast at least 1 hour before the start.
Players should wear suitable shirts, shorts, socks and boots on Training days with warm clothing depending on weather conditions. Players are expected to provide their own training kit (Replica Kit usually) plus clean studded boots (no blades). Players should bring their own “Non Fizzy” refreshments. SHIN PADS are compulsory when playing any football for the club.
No Sponsored Match Day Kit is to be worn on Training days. Sponsored Match Day Kit will be supplied to those who play matches and those players are responsible for keeping their own kit in good condition.
All U10 HOME matches are played on the Recreation Ground. For AWAY matches players are expected to arrange for their own travel however a convoy usually starts at the Downley Donkey and details are supplied.
Players Wanted
We now have over 30 players involved at this age group, coached by 6 experienced volunteers. This means that the children who do come along benefit from a much lower Coach to Player ratio than at most other clubs. This in turn helps the children develop their skills more effectively.
We are currently on the look out for a “Goal Keeper” who possesses a natural ability to keep the ball out of their net. If you are vocal and agile, can kick and throw a ball a long way then please get in touch or come along to one of our Saturday morning training sessions. Outfield players are always welcome to come along as well however please note there is a trial period for any new starter.
